Curry MBA Students Nationally Published

Curry College MBA Students Nationally PublishedSome of Curry's best and brightest MBA students can now add 'published writer' to their resumes.  That is because three student-written articles have recently been picked up by a couple of well-known national photography and technology magazines.

The first piece, "The Meteoric Rise of Getty Images" was published in the Winter 2009 issue of MacTribe, a print and online Mecca for Mac users around the country.

The second piece, "The Growth of an Empire - Getty Images", an amalgam of the first article, was picked up at the end of 2008 by The Picture Professional, the quarterly magazine of the society of Picture Professionals.

Curry MBA student authors Pat Hunt, Julie Zurowski, Maureen Meech and Robyn Wolf all share bylines on these first two pieces.  Both articles outline the path in which photography juggernaut Getty Images exploded into the new millennium and successfully transitioned their business into the digital age, despite the dotcom collapse.

Hunt also shares credit for the third piece with fellow student Russ Vernooy, ironically called "Remembering the Dotcom Bust,"  also in MacTribe's Winter '09 issue.

The Hunt/Vernooy article is very timely in that not only does it speak to the financial struggle of a decade ago, but also touches on lessons possibly unlearned from that experience, which seems appropriate in the current economic climate.

All three of these articles are abridged versions of pieces crafted in Curry classes:  MBA 6210, Strategic Financial Management with Professor Zelma Echeverria and MBA 6310, Strategic Managerial Economics with Professor William Topper.
