Office of the Academic Vice President and Dean

This office advances the Academic mission of the College. The Academic V.P. and Dean of the Faculty oversees all undergraduate and graduate programs, provides leadership to the faculty, and assures compliance with accreditation and other standards. Faculty contracts, payroll, and relations are handled by this office. Academic budgets are administered here. Student academic problems are addressed by the Assistant to the Dean. In addition to traditional faculty departments, the offices of Academic Advising, Career Services, Registrar/Enrollment Management, Essential Skills, Program for the Advancement of Learning (PAL), and the Levin Library report to the Dean.

This office coordinates all undergraduate advising. It assigns faculty advisors and assists walk-in students.

Career Services
Hafer Building
This office is responsible for career preparation and development programs. This includes internship advising and placement, delivering the internship course, assisting students with their choice of majors and eventual job searches. It also designs and delivers career events such as Career Discovery Week. The Study Abroad program is also administered in this office.

Enrollment Management/Registrar

This office is the keeper of all student academic records. It is responsible for compliance with all regulations related to student information. It schedules all undergraduate classes. It also performs institutional research and strategic forecasting. In addition, it is charged with developing and delivering programs related to student retention. The First Year Experience program is coordinated in this office.

Essential Skills
Levin Library
This office coordinates remedial academic courses, a professional and peer tutor program, and pre-placement testing. It also coordinates outreach programs for students in academic difficulty.

Program for the Advancement of Learning (PAL)
Gertrude M. Webb Learning Center
This department delivers testing, course-work, counseling and support services for students with language-based learning disabilities who are participants in our PAL program. It also delivers programs for other constituencies such as high-school students and working adults. A computer lab, assistive technology lab, and un-timed testing facility are located here.

Levin Library
Located on the Academic Quadrangle
The Levin Library provides library services for students in traditional undergraduate, continuing studies, and graduate programs. In addition to the regular catalogue of books, periodicals, and video resources, the library maintains an extensive research database. The library also manages course offerings, and supervises space used by students meeting for group projects. Computer terminals, and a computer lab are also housed in the Levin Library.

This office assists both the Academic Dean with special projects. It is responsible for coordinating all the strategic planning activities of the College. It has oversight for the College’s outcomes assessment project. It also works closely with the Director of Buildings and Grounds on space planning and construction projects. In addition, this department oversees the Instructional Technology Department.

This office develops strategies for the use of technology in the classroom. It provides training to faculty members on equipment and software. It assists faculty with course design and delivery utilizing new technology.

It includes marketing the College through publications, website development, high school visits, and programs and events at Curry. It works with the Dean’s Office to establish and maintain admission standards. It processes applications and credentials, and makes admission decisions. The department also maintains data and reports on important enrollment trends and statistics.

This office oversees three Continuing Education and Graduate Studies branch campuses (Milton, Plymouth, Worcester) and other instructional sites (Medford, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, corporate locations) as well as the operations functions of our three graduate programs (Criminal Justice, Education, Business Administration). It works with the Academic Dean’s Office and the Faculty to develop new graduate and undergraduate programs for adult students. This office coordinates all marketing, recruitment and outreach activities for CE and Grad Studies. It also develops retention programs and evaluates policies and procedures to maintain effective customer/student service. Payroll for faculty teaching in CE and Grad Studies is processed in this office. The Dean of Continuing Education and Graduate Studies works closely with Faculty Directors of our graduate programs.

This office is responsible for recruiting and retaining graduate students. Recruitment, outreach, academic advising, admissions, registration, assistance with tuition payment and financial aid is provided in this office. Student records are kept here. This office coordinates services closely with the campus staff in Plymouth and Worcester because graduate students attending these branch campuses may also receive assistance from the campus staff. This office also schedules graduate classes at all three campuses and coordinates communication with the graduate faculty. It processes student faculty evaluations for all graduate courses.

Financial Affairs
The Finance Office

This office is responsible for all accounting and other financial operations, including Student Financial Services. It serves as liaison with state and federal authorities, outside auditors and attorneys, banks, and financial rating agencies. It directs the budget process, analyzing results, and making financial projections. It manages the college’s investment portfolio. In addition, the Chief Financial Officer oversees the Buildings and Grounds operations of the College.

This office includes Student Financial Aid, Student Accounts (Bursar), and loan processing. It administers all federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, managing awards to achieve fiscal and enrollment/retention objectives. It bills and collects all student balances. It counsels students and their families on financing their Curry College education.

Payroll

This office processes biweekly and monthly payrolls for all employees through an automated payroll system. It ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations. It audits quarterly tax filings, W-2’s.
Purchasing and Accounts Payable

This office processes all payments made by the College. It researches terms and negotiates prices with vendors. It assists departments with requests for proposals. It reviews and approves purchases made throughout the College. It also manages the College’s business insurance program. In addition, the Manager of Purchasing and Accounts Payable supervises the Copy Center.
The Copy and Supply Center

This office provides large-quantity copy services, binding services, folding and bursting, and shredding services to business and faculty offices. It also maintains a centralized inventory of office supplies for the College and fills requisitions.

Buildings and Grounds
B&G Building
This office oversees the care, maintenance and construction of the College’s physical facilities at the Milton, Plymouth and Worcester campuses. This includes plumbing, heating, carpentry, electrical, keying, painting, and general upkeep of grounds. It plans and coordinates all capital improvement projects. It negotiates and purchases all utilities contracts. It is also responsible for outsourced housekeeping services, and other contracted maintenance or repair work. It assures compliance with building, sanitary, and safety regulations. It also provides “set-up” services for all events at the College.

Technology Center
Kennedy Building
The “Tech Center” is responsible for all computer information systems at Curry. This includes all computers, servers, database systems, and data networks on the campus. The Tech Center Help Desk assists staff, faculty, and students (to a limited extent) with computer related problems. It is also responsible for installations, upgrades, and security. The Network group maintains the efficiency and security of the network, from servers to cables. The Database group maintains the Banner system, including user support. The Chief Information Officer, in addition to managing these systems, is also responsible for the telecommunications system, the Media Services department, and Mailroom Services.

Telecom Services
Kennedy Building
This office manages the telephone system on campus. It assigns phones, trains and assists users, and maintains the telephone switch and voice-mail systems. The College Receptionist, who operates the main switchboard, is in this department.
Media and Classroom Services
Kennedy Building
This department provides media services to both offices and classrooms. It is responsible for maintenance of stationary media equipment in each classroom, as well as delivering requested additional equipment. In addition, this department is responsible for computer equipment in all computer labs, and staffs all open computer lab hours.
Campus Mail Services
Drapkin Student Center
The Mailroom receives and distributes all incoming mail to staff, faculty and students. It also posts all outgoing mail, and maintains fiscal controls on college postage. It assigns and maintains student mailboxes. It provides basic postal services at its service window.

This office has responsibility for development of corporate, foundation and government relations, alumni and parent relations, special events and communications. It is the relationship building and fundraising arm of the College.

Human Resources
Drapkin Student Center
This office is responsible for employee relations, recruitment, training, compensation, benefits, record-keeping, and complying with all employment related laws. Both staff and faculty members are served by this office. The work-study program is also housed in this office. The Director of Human Resources also oversees the Curry Early Childhood Center.
The Curry Early Childhood Center
CECC Building
This program provides full and partial day care for the children of staff and faculty at the College between the ages of three months and five years. It also serves the Milton community.
Office of Athletics
Miller Gym
This office manages the varsity athletic and intramural programs. The College offers seven men’s, and six women’s varsity sports. There is a broad range of intramural athletic programs. The Office of Athletics also oversees programs that support student athletes, including Athletic Training, recruitment, Sports Information, and team fund-raising activities. It assures the College complies with all NCAA rules for Division III programs.

This group assesses, treats, rehabilitates and manages athletic injuries and illnesses. It schedules professional medical coverage for all athletic events. It counsels students, parents, and coaches about preventing and treating injuries. It also manages medical and insurance records.

This office publicizes athletic activities through press releases, internal publications, website, and submissions to external organizations such as NCAA, Associated Press. It is the keeper of all team statistics. It also publishes all schedules and game-day materials.

This office is responsible for the student experience at Curry College that occurs outside of the classroom. It supervises Residence Life, Judicial Affairs, Student Activities, Student Counseling Services, Student Health Services, and Public Safety. This office is also responsible for the Summer Conference Center, which rents space on campus during the summer months to outside groups.

Judicial Affairs

This office is responsible for developing and enforcing the rules of behavior for students outside of the classroom. This includes policy development and communication to students; training of Residence Life staff on effective application of disciplinary steps; and acting as adjudicator in more serious cases, or in appeals. Record keeping and trend analysis is also an important function in this office.

This office develops and implements a comprehensive program of interesting, diverse, meaningful and fun out-of-class experiences for students. It supervises the operations of ABC, ARC, Colonel’s Corner, and College Shuttle.
Counseling Center

This office is responsible for the overall mental health needs of the student body, including interpreting and articulating these needs to the College community, as well as providing remedial and proactive interventions. It provides individual and group counseling and psychotherapy. The Student Disabilities Officer is also housed in this office, as is Substance Abuse counseling.

Smith House
This office provides comprehensive health care to Curry students. It establishes medical protocols, and develops treatment and referral plans. Emergency and scheduled appointments are available with Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses. It assures that all clinic certifications and government regulations are met. Immunization records are kept here. It also develops and delivers health education programs for Curry students.

Public Safety
Mayflower Annex
This office is responsible for security on the Milton campus. It maintains dispatch and patrol staffing that monitors public safety, building security, and responds to emergencies 24/7. It recommends safety policies, and establishes protocols for response and judicial referrals. It maintains the College’s photo ID program, parking sticker/traffic control program, and incident reporting program. It assures compliance with all governmental regulations, and works closely with local law enforcement agencies. It is also responsible for developing and delivering crime prevention programs to our students.
