POLITICS AND HISTORY

Assistant or Associate Professor, African American Studies
Coordinator for the College’s African American Studies Minor.  The Politics and History department seeks an American historian, with specialization in African American Studies, or a candidate with a degree in African American Studies who could also teach courses within the Politics and History department curriculum.  Candidates with expertise in Atlantic Studies or World History are of particular interest.  4/4 teaching load, with some reduction to develop and administer the minor. Reference and Information Literacy Librarian

Curry College, in Milton, MA,  seeks a service-oriented and creative Reference and Information Literacy librarian to join a collaborative library environment. This full-time public services library faculty member will be involved in all aspect of reference and other library activities, including:

■ Serving reference desk hours and providing E-Ref (electronic reference service)
■ Coordinating reference schedules year-round, in consultation and cooperation with the Library Director and colleagues
■ Teaching Information Literacy classes
■ Helping students in Research Assistance for Papers (RAP); these are scheduled sessions to help individual students understand the use of library resources
■ Serving as a mentor to Honors students
■ Serving as liaison with academic departments and performing collection development activities
■ Performing collection development for the reference collection (all disciplines)
■ Having familiarity with Microsoft ACCESS
■ Maintaining and monitoring the Microsoft ACCESS database to keep records of reference questions
■ Producing reference statistics from ACCESS information
■ Contacting faculty when class assignments questions arise

Minimum Requirements:

  • MLS degree from ALA-accredited program
  • Minimum one year experience in a college library in public services division
  • Familiarity with a variety of library reference sources and academic databases
  • Emphasis on assisting patrons with academic assignments
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively with colleagues across the spectrum of library functions, including College faculty outside the library

Adjunct instructors needed to teach a variety of management and financial/accounting courses at our Milton and Plymouth campuses for spring, fall, and summer semesters.   Classes are held days or evenings, Monday through Saturday.  Undergraduate courses require a Master’s Degree (Ph.D. preferred) and prior teaching experience at the college level.  For MBA adjunct openings in all disciplines, Ph.D. preferred and significant industry and teaching experience.
