In celebration of its 125th anniversary, Curry College held an Academic Convocation today in the Miller Gymnasium on the Milton campus, 1071 Blue Hill Avenue.
Curry College welcomed and honored the following descendants of founders Anna Baright Curry and Samuel Silas Curry who were in attendance at the Convocation: Anne Porter Cooper, Great Granddaughter, joined by husband Henry Cooper; Samuel Curry Porter – Great Grandson; and Chryss Hernandez, Great Granddaughter, joined by husband Felix Hernandez. Also recognized were two great granddaughters – Abby and Rachel Porter – who were not able to attend today’s ceremony but had visited the campus for dinner last night.
Adam Hochschild, distinguished author and parent of Curry alumnus Gabriel Hochschild ’99, received an honorary degree and served as the Convocation’s keynote speaker. Curry College awarded Mr. Hochschild a Doctor of Humane Letters.
President Kenneth K. Quigley, Jr. presented Curry College Trustee John W. Keith with the College’s inaugural Presidential Medal of Excellence Award. The Presidential Medal of Excellence is a new award established to honor an individual demonstrating excellence in their profession or career; excellence in community service; and excellence in philanthropy. John W. Keith unequivocally embodies excellence in his profession, community service and philanthropy. Curry College considers itself most fortunate that John W. Keith serves on its Board of Trustees, chairs the Development Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee.
