Curry College is pleased to announce the launch of its Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program. The launch of the Curry College MBA Program adds a third graduate level program to the College’s offerings. Graduate programs already in place are the long-standing Master of Education (M.Ed.) and the more recent Master of Arts in Criminal Justice.
“The faculty and administration know that we can offer an MBA program that is unique,” says Academic Vice President and Dean of Faculty David A. Fedo. “We continue to carry on the Curry tradition through initiatives and programs that will raise the College to the next level of excellence in education, in keeping with our mission, and taking action to make that happen.”
The Management Department and the Division of Continuing and Graduate Studies collaborated to conceive and craft the program curriculum which focuses on four key themes: leadership and ethics, strategic planning, decision-making, and problem solving.
“We surveyed hundreds of people, conducted numerous focus groups, and engaged in a great deal of research in the program development,” reports Judith Stoessel, Dean of Continuing Education and Graduate Studies. “We’re confident we have something different to say about advanced management education in today’s marketplace.”
The Curry College MBA program utilizes a cohort group learning format, meaning that students in the program begin as a group and take all the same classes together start to finish. This format replicates the business environment, where teamwork is so important.
“Today’s business environment is complex and rapidly changing,” stresses Dean Stoessel. “Employers want people who not only understand management trends and issues but who also possess a broad base of skills in order to effectively communicate and build teams.”
Curry College has established working partnerships with local businesses and industry leaders, whom Dean Stoessel believes will provide a competitive edge to the program and a greater level of business insight to students. Partner companies will provide case study material and will have the opportunity to engage cohort groups as consulting teams on their current business issues.
Members of partner companies, who also participate in the College’s Management Advisory Council, are confident of the benefit the Curry College MBA Program will bring to the community.
“From all my years working in the banking industry on the South Shore, and from my recent stint as Chairman of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, I know that Curry’s MBA program will be a real asset to this region," says Management Advisory Council Chairman James P. McDonough. "For many years Curry has provided an excellent education to its undergraduate management majors, and I have no doubt the same will be true for its MBA program.”
The Curry College MBA will be offered at all three campus locations, beginning in Fall 2005 in Milton and Spring 2006 in Plymouth and Worcester.
