Curry College Theatre Presents "The Rabbit Hole Lounge"

Milton, MA – Curry College Theatre Director Professor D.L. Garren is pleased to present the premiere of The Rabbit Hole Lounge, a Hip Hop version of Alice in Wonderland, directed by guest director Michelle Baxter.

This student-produced show will run Friday, November 10 through Monday, November 13 at 7:30 pm in the black box theatre, located in the new Oscar B. and Frances A. Keith Auditorium at the Academic and Performance Center on the Milton Campus, 1071 Blue Hill Avenue, Milton, MA.  Tickets are $5 and are available for purchase at the door.

The Rabbit Hole Lounge is a one-act play based on excerpts from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and was developed by the Curry College Theatre Company. When Alice tumbles into the Rabbit Hole Lounge, she meets many different characters from Wonderland as she tries to figure out the riddle and find out who she is. The play incorporates some aspects of the hip hop culture with dance, songs and raps.

The cast and crew of the play include Cate Buckley (stage manager), Eve Ravinett (Alice #1), Gabriella Daynard (Alice #2), Elizabeth Guerra (White Rabbit), Jurell Smith (Caterpillar), Marissa Kiley (The Duchess), Brendan Cawley (Cheshire Cat/Mock Turtle), Rachel Sullivan (Mad Hatter), Stephanie Collett '04 (March Hare), Lauren Broadbent (White Queen), Lauren Froug (Queen of Hearts), with Josh Danzig on lights, Deidre Hopkins on sound, Max Gudmundson on stage crew and Chip Piatti as technical director.

As Director of Performing Arts & Outreach and Manager of the Strand Theater, Michelle Baxter is responsible for all of Boston’s major public arts festivals throughout the year. Ms. Baxter has been a community activist, cultural program director, theater director and actor in Boston for the last 22 years.  Her goal is to use the arts as a way to create dialogue, cross-cultural exchanges and greater communication among and between different racial/ethnic and cultural communities of Boston.

Ms. Baxter also serves as the Artistic Director of Hysterical Performance, a theater company that seeks to unite multiracial, multiethnic, intergenerational women in a collaborative effort aimed at the production and exhibition of mix media artwork and performance.  She has extensive experience as an actor and director for the stage.
