The guidance department at Milton High School will host a presentation for parents of children with learning disabilities involved in the college search process on Thursday, May 3 at 7:00 P.M. in the Milton High School Auditorium.
The program will be presented by Dr. Lisa Ijiri and will explore the issues facing students with learning disabilities. Parents will receive practical, hands-on suggestions which will help guide them through the college search process. They will also learn about documentation expectations, legal requirements, and the range of admissions processes confronting students.
Dr. Lisa Ijiri has served as director of the internationally renowned Program for Advancement of Learning at Curry College since 1993. A Fulbright scholar with Master's and Doctoral degrees in Learning Disabilities from Northwestern University and Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Ijiri has published articles and presented at national conferences on a wide range of topics in the field of learning disabilities. Most recently, Dr. Ijiri has developed a series of workshops designed to assist professionals in working with LD students as they transition to college and is co-editor of a book devoted to understanding the transformation of college students with LD.
