Founded in 1987 with current assets of $725 million and eleven branches throughout Greater Boston, Wainwright Bank has become an industry leader in financing socially responsible community development projects including affordable and special needs housing, food banks, homeless shelters, environmental protection, breast cancer research and immigration services to name a few. In addition, the Bank has received numerous national and international awards including being named one of the world’s Top 20 Sustainable Stocks, one of the 11 Best Lenders to Women in the U.S., and one of the Top 10 “Green” Banking Firms in the U.S.
Robert A. Glassman has a long record of commitment and engagement with social justice and community causes that find expression in his professional and civic work. From his early years in Jersey City, New Jersey, through his military service in Vietnam, to his subsequent studies at Harvard Business School and eventual entry into the financial services industry, to his roles as philanthropist, volunteer, and social entrepreneur, Mr. Glassman has remained committed to issues of social justice. His accomplishments reflect this philosophy, and merge financial and social capital in ways that strengthen those values.
Jan A. Miller has been President and CEO of Wainwright Bank since September 1997, and was Executive Vice President and Senior Lending Officer from February 1994 to September 1997. He has been a Director of Wainwright Bank since May 1998. Mr. Miller is currently Chairman of the Board of the Massachusetts Bankers Association. He is a Board Member of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston and Vice Chairman of the Affordable Housing Committee. He is also a Board Member of the Massachusetts Community and Banking Committee, the Governor’s Banking Advisory Council for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the Curry College Management Advisory Council.
