AE Writing Center and Math Lab
Faculty and staff tutors are available in the AEC's Writing Center and Math Lab each afternoon and evening for writing assistance and math support. The Writing Center is located on the second level of Levin Library and the Math Lab is located in the Science Building. There is no charge for this service, and full-time, undergraduate students may sign up for up to two 1/2 hour sessions each week.
Graduate students may utilize the AEC's services for 5 hours per academic year(September 1-August 31st) at no additional charge. Beyond this support, graduate students can purchase additional blocks of tutorial assistance through the Office of Continuing Education and Graduate Studies.
AE Peer Tutoring Program
Students who perform well in a particular subject area may choose to become a peer tutor in that area, if their professor recommends them. Peer tutors work in the Center, or are available on an on-call basis, at no charge to those students who utilize their services. Prospective peer tutors may also enroll in AE 2000, Peer Teaching in the Disciplines, which will provide them with both a conceptual framework and practical experience.
AE Supplemental Instruction
For some academic courses, additional instruction is helpful for students. In these cases, AE professional or peer tutors conduct non-credit workshops that are designed to help students to succeed in specific classes. In addition, more general workshops in time management and study skills are provided each semester.
AE Athletic Study Halls
The AEC is committed to supporting Curry's student athletes. First year student athletes, regardless of season, are expected to attend 3 hours of Athletic Study Halls each week for their first semester. Those students who earn a GPA above a 2.5 are no longer required to attend the study hall. Any student athlete whose GPA falls below 2.5 is obligated to attend the study halls. AE faculty and staff work in collaboration with coaches to provide workshops that are helpful to the athletes, such as time management workshops, and mid-term and final exam strategy sessions.
