Prepare Your PC Before You Get Here

Resident Students Only

  1. Curry College requires all PCs connecting to the campus network to have up to date anti-virus software installed and running.  The campus network recognizes 15 different brands of anti-virus software.  We recommend configuring the anti-virus software to update daily and to scan the PC at least once a week.
  2. The College has purchased a site license for McAfee virus scan that covers all resident students at no additional charge. Once on campus, if you need a valid license contact the Technology Center to obtain a copy.
  3. All computers running Windows must have all Microsoft Critical and Security updates installed.

The College recommends performing the following on your PC:

  • Back up your PC and all critical data before doing any upgrades
  • Make sure System Restore is enabled on your PC
  • Have the System Recovery CDs that came with the PC in the event of a problem
  • Ensure you have a legally installed version of Windows XP on your PC
  • Download and run Ad-aware; visit www.download.com for a free copy
  • Download and run Spybot; visit www.download.com  for a free copy
  • Clean the PC’s Internet Cache
