Getting Started

Help Along the Way

Career and Academic Advising
At Curry College, we know that as an adult, you like to make informed decisions, especially when it comes to your future.  Each semester, we schedule Open Houses and Information Sessions that provide you with the opportunity to explore - to learn about a program, meet instructors and fellow classmates, and have your general questions answered. On those occasions when you have more specific concerns and questions and would like to sit one-on-one with an academic advisor, we invite you to make an appointment at any one of our campus locations. Advisors are available to talk with you about career paths, certificate and degree programs, transfer credit and degree requirements, and course selections. To make an appointment, call (617) 333-2364 or email us at ccce@curry.edu.

Open Enrollment Policy
Curry College’s open enrollment policy allows you to take most undergraduate continuing education courses simply by registering for the course. Applications for admission, entrance examinations, and College Board Examination scores are not required. Credits earned for individual courses taken at Curry College may be applied to a certificate or degree program. The exception to open enrollment is our Nursing programs, which require an application and admission prior to enrollment.

Please note that students who are enrolled at Curry College who decide to pursue a degree program must apply for admission to the program.  Students who wish to apply for financial aid must be admitted to a degree program.

Transfer Credit Policy
Students who have completed coursework from an accredited institution of higher education may be able to transfer some or all of their credits into an undergraduate degree program at Curry. The minimum acceptable grade is C-.  An academic advisor would be pleased to review your unsealed or unofficial transcripts and provide you with an immediate preliminary evaluation of your transfer credits. This allows you to select appropriate courses and get started with your studies at Curry. However, for the final, official transfer evaluation, you must provide sealed, official transcripts, which will be reviewed by the Curry College Registrar.

Financial Aid
The Curry College Student Financial Services Office has staff that work exclusively with our continuing education students to provide advice, friendly service, and personal support. In addition to the regular office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Evening appointments are available. Please call 617-333-3152 to schedule an appointment.

Financial aid applications are considered on a rolling basis throughout the year. Students must be admitted to a degree program and must maintain half-time enrollment status (6 credits per semester for continuing education undergraduate students) in order to be eligible for Federal financial aid. Institutional aid is not available for continuing education students, but you may be eligible to receive federal and state grants and student loans.  Students should file financial aid paperwork at least two weeks prior to the start of the term to allow time for processing.

There are also alternative non-federal loans available for those students who are not admitted to a degree program; for students pursuing certificate programs, for those taking courses but not intending to earn a degree, and for those enrolled less than half-time. Please visit the Financial Aid Office website or call (617) 333-2146.

2007-2008 Verification Forms
2008-2009 Verification Forms

International Students
International students must be admitted to an undergraduate or graduate degree program as full-time students. Because international student admission, transfer credit, and visa paperwork is complex and takes time to process, the deadline is June 1, 2008 for attending Fall 2008 and October 1, 2008 for attending Spring 2009 semester, and is January 28, 2009 for attending Summer 2009 semester.

All international educational transcripts and certificates must be translated into English AND evaluated by an accredited agency specializing in international educational evaluations.  In Boston you may use the Center for Educational Documentation (CED), 617-338-7171, www.cedevaluations.com.  Additional accredited agencies may be found at www.naces.org.

College transcripts must be evaluated on a course-by-course basis.  Candidates for bachelor’s degrees must also verify U. S. high school equivalency if completed outside the United States.

If English is not your first language, you must submit official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores.

Please meet with an academic advisor for further information about these requirements or to discuss procedures.
