Accelerated Entry Level Baccalaureate Nursing Program
To respond to nursing shortages at the local and national levels, Curry College designed the Accelerated Nursing Program (ACCEL) to provide a route for students who want to make a career change into nursing by earning a second bachelor’s degree. ACCEL is designed for qualified and highly motivated students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree in another field. The program uses a cohort model, and students are accepted into a specific cohort that begins each January. The accelerated and intensive structure of the program means that you can obtain a BS in Nursing in sixteen months.
At the completion of the Nursing Program at Curry you will take the NCLEX-RN and be eligible to practice in all health care settings – acute care, ambulatory care, community health and mental health. With a BS degree from Curry College you will have significant employment flexibility. Curry provides first rate clinical experiences in a wide range of hospitals and health care agencies. Each cohort is limited to 32 students thus affording students the opportunity to know their professors and fellow students well.
The curriculum is designed to be full time. Students will be in two days per week during the Spring and Fall semesters and four days per week for and clinical placements during the Summer semester.
Required Background and Prerequisite Courses
Motivated students from any undergraduate major may apply to this program. However, those who did not complete the required prerequisite courses in their undergraduate program must complete these courses prior to starting the ACCEL program. Students who are accepted into the program are done so on a provisional basis pending successful completion of all required prerequisites. A written plan for completing the prerequisites is required on the application.
In addition, if three of the four science prerequisites are not complete by the application deadline, then the application will not be reviewed unless a copy of an official GRE General Test score is also submitted in the application packet.
