Graduate Profiles

Timothy J. Lenane
Class of 2004
M.A. in Criminal Justice

Tim Lenane has already accomplished much and is driven to achieve more in his career.  He started juggling full-time studies and a full-time work while an undergrad at another local institution in 1998.  During the past six years, he began his law enforcement career as a Police Cadet at the Boston Police Department where he worked for three years, moved into his present job at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, married, and became a proud father of two.

Seeking to reach the next level of excellence, he enrolled in the Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Program at Curry.

“I looked at a couple of schools prior to Curry College, but once I came to Curry's campus I knew it was the right fit for me,” says Tim. “I knew a master’s degree from Curry College would be of great value. I was impressed with the course offerings and felt as though I could learn a bundle of new information pertaining to criminal justice that had not been covered during my undergrad work.

“After taking one course at Curry, I knew I had made the right choice. I was so impressed with the fact that everyone from the teachers to the librarians would do whatever they could to make themselves available to me as a student, to make sure that I succeeded.”

Tim adds, “Curry has given me something much greater than a degree, something that was not taught in the classroom, but something that will be with me throughout my career in law enforcement and life itself. While attending Curry College I was able to build a network of friends and professionals in the field of Criminal Justice, a network that I can call on at anytime throughout my career.”

Getting his master’s degree has only made Tim want to continue his education even further, possibly pursuing a PhD program or entering law school.  For now, he’ll postpone those plans as he looks forward to the next step in his career, entering the Boston Police Academy in Fall 2004, a 7-month program “like getting another degree in itself.”
