Four Cornerstones

As a Curry College Master of Arts in Criminal Justice graduate you will be expected to demonstrate understanding and applied skills in the four program cornerstones:

  • Sociological/ Criminal Justice Awareness: understanding criminology/sociology theory as it relates to the causes of crime and criminal behavior, the sociological contexts of crime and criminal behavior; and an awareness of ethnicity/race, gender, and social class and how they influence criminal justice institutions and the administration of criminal justice.
  • Management: understanding organizational development and behavior; understanding and demonstrating management skills in collaboration, supervision and evaluation, and professional development.
  • Research and Analysis: critically understanding quantitative and qualitative analysis and research approaches; assessing how data and information are translated into program and policy.
  • Reflective Thinking and Problem Solving:  demonstrating skills in personal assessment, reflective thinking,
    conflict negotiation; leadership; and understanding basic community dynamics.
