FDIC DIRECTOR THOMAS J. CURRY TO SPEAK AT CURRY COLLEGE
Gail Arch, Director of the Curry College MBA Program, is pleased to announce that Thomas J. Curry, Director, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) will speak at Curry College on Thursday, June 26 at 5:30 p.m. The presentation will be held in the Academic and Performance Center, Room 124, at the Milton campus at 1071 Blue Hill Avenue.
Thomas J. Curry took office on January 12, 2004, as one of five members of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation for a six-year term. Mr. Curry serves as Chairman of the FDIC's Assessment Appeals Committee and Case Review Committee.
The FDIC is managed by a five-person Board of Directors, all of whom are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate, with no more than three being from the same political party.
Director Curry also serves as the Chairman of the NeighborWorks® America Board of Directors. NeighborWorks® America is a national non-profit organization chartered by Congress to provide financial support, technical assistance, and training for community-based neighborhood revitalization efforts.
Prior to joining the FDIC's Board of Directors, Mr. Curry served five Massachusetts Governors as the Commonwealth's Commissioner of Banks from 1990 to 1991 and from 1995 to 2003. He served as Acting Commissioner from February 1994 to June 1995. He previously served as First Deputy Commissioner and Assistant General Counsel within the Massachusetts Division of Banks. He entered state government in 1982 as an attorney with the Massachusetts' Secretary of State's Office.
Mr. Curry served as the Chairman of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors from 2000 to 2001. He served two terms on the State Liaison Committee of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, including a term as Committee chairman. He is a graduate of Manhattan College (summa cum laude), where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his law degree from the New England School of Law.
This presentation, free and open to the public, is part of the capstone consulting project, or culminating experience, for Curry College MBA students. This summer, Curry MBA students are consulting for Weymouth Bank under the direction of its President, Robert Terravecchia, who has been instrumental in engaging FDIC Director Curry to enhance the capstone experience.
