Advising and Student Services

We're With You All the Way

The hallmarks of a Curry College education are small class size and personal attention. Academic advisors at both the Milton and Plymouth campuses will assist you in the application and registration process and guide you in the initial phase of choosing courses. Advisors and faculty are easily accessible throughout your experience at Curry.

New M.Ed. students are required to meet with the M.Ed. Director and/or one of the Coordinators for a formal interview prior to admission into the program.

Advising sessions are available at both the Milton and Plymouth campuses by appointment.  To schedule an appointment please call the Main Graduate Studies office in Milton at (617) 333-2243 or the Plymouth Campus at (508) 747-2424.

Group advising sessions are also offered each semester, providing the opportunity to ask questions regarding appropriate choices, coursework, scheduling and licensing requirements.

As you prepare for the MTEL Subject Test(s), our Field Experience Coordinator will advise you regarding the Practicum Seminar, your teaching placements, and licensure requirements for specific concentrations of graduate study. Beyond basic advising, the M.Ed. Director and Coordinators assist students with more complex questions regarding their fields of study. In addition, faculty in the M.Ed. program are actively involved in their fields and have a wealth of practical and theoretical information; they also serve as resources to students. Students who seek a professional license or who have a special situation are encouraged to speak with college advisors, but will in many cases be required to communicate with and apply to the Department of Education directly.

Special Support for Career Changers

Are you considering a career change? Have you always wanted to teach? At Curry, you won’t be alone. Half of our students are coming to the M.Ed. program after 10-20 years in business, sales, finance, or full-time parenting. We work with each student to make this transition a success. Early field training opportunities and a seminar designed for career changers are just a few of the ways that Curry can help you make an effective transition to teaching.
