Course Scheduling

Designed for the Working Adult

Most M.Ed. courses are offered on Monday through Thursdayevenings in Milton and Plymouth over three full semesters: Fall, Spring and Summer. Two courses are offered per evening, the first from 4 – 6:30 pm followed by a dinner break, and the second from 7 – 9:30 pm. Some weekend courses are also offered.

A general sequence of study is recommended, starting with core courses, and progressing through concentration courses, field work, and the capstone seminars. This encourages students to progress through the program in a modified cohort, which provides a sense of support and collegiality for the first year of study even as it allows flexibility for students to choose the schedule that suits them best. As the program continues, students branch out into specific concentration requirements, field work and the thesis or capstone project, but are still able to maintain connections to other students at a similar stage in the program. Along the way, they build and maintain a portfolio that helps synthesize the diverse experiences of the program. Classes are small, faculty members are closely involved in the work of students, and both support and professional networking are encouraged.
