Gertrude M. Webb Learning Center

PAL is housed in the Gertrude M. Webb Learning Center, a unique, Tudor style building with several thousand square feet of space dedicated to our students. Housed in the Learning Center are PAL faculty classrooms/offices, the PAL computer lab, the Assistive Technology and Accommodations Center , group teaching areas, gathering space, the Adult Center, the Educational Diagnostic Center and the PAL administrative offices. The architecture of the Learning Center is based in the earlier part of this century and features majestic touches including cathedral ceilings and ornate fireplaces.

The PAL Assistive Technology and Accommodations Center , where students can take untimed exams or utilize textbooks on tape, features attractive stained glass windows in a ballroom sized setting that inspires quiet study. Please read more about our Assistive Technology Center.

Over 30 faculty each have their own designated teaching spaces, arranged individually to accommodate a variety of learners in both one-to-one and group settings. Each room is personalized and inviting to students creating a relaxed, supportive environment that feels comfortable and welcoming. Each room is equipped with at least one computer and printer so that students can work with their PAL professors to use the technologies to their fullest capabilities.

The PAL computer lab allows PAL students to continue working on papers or projects that they begin with their PAL professor's assistance and also to have access to computers when the main computer lab is full. Group study areas are used both spontaneously and as scheduled by PAL professors to support a community of learners who learn from one another as effectively as from their PAL professors.
