Information Technology major Shawn Edge is excitedly pursuing his Study Abroad adventure in Sydney, Australia to further his interest in the area of Nanotechnology.
“One of the courses I am taking is NanoSciences, which deals with the new technology Nanotechnology,” reports Shawn. “Nanotechnology is the process of working with molecules at one billionth of a meter. It allows us to manufacture smaller parts hence processor chips, and smaller cell phones.
“I became interested in Nanotechnology through a course taught by Professor Paul DiBara, the Cultural Impact of Information Technology. Soon after I finished the course and completed my final project on Nanotechnology, I decided to pursue additional classes in that field.”
After researching his options in the local area and throughout the United States, Shawn was also considering taking a Study Abroad experience. He discovered the University of Technology in Sidney, Australia, where he is also taking a venture management course to prepare him for the business world.
“I have to have an open mind as to the way technology is being presented. Learning as much as I can will only further my knowledge about the world and the technology driven by it. People need to learn about new technologies and support them. There is unlimited potential with new innovations and patents.
“While I am far away from the United States, I have become accustomed to the new country I am residing in,” says Shawn.
