Four Curry television students visited the pre-production set-up for ABC Sports' coverage of the Deutsche Bank Golf Championship in Norton, MA. Assistant Production Manager Kevin Battle gave the students a rare look behind-the scenes at what the production crew affectionately call "The Truck Farm".
At the "farm" the students toured the main production truck where they saw the Director practicing some camera placements. They also saw the replay truck, the graphics truck and the area where audio would be mixed.
Later in the tour Mr. Battle brought them to the Announce Booth and explained how the announcers communicated with the main production staff. Students also met up with some Production Assistants and learned how they got into the business.
Curry students Andrew Grazianio. Jamie Huston, Ben Ellis, and Andrew Crea attended. All said the experience opened their eyes to new career possibilities. Associate Professor Jerry Gibbs arranged the tour and brought the students to Norton.
"These types of visits are important for our Curry TV students to see", said Gibbs. "They make contacts and they also observe true professionals in action. We thank ABC Sports for letting us tag along for the day!"
