Filmmakers Screen Movie at Curry

The producer and directing team of the award-winning movie, "The Devil's Tail," screened their film and took audience questions at Curry College on April 1.

Filmmakers Christopher Comrie and Samantha Swan have won rave reviews for "The Devil's Tail," the story of a man who searches for his missing friend in the Yucatan of Mexico and finds his predictable life turned upside down.

The movie, shot on a budget of less than $10,000 (less than the catering budget of many films!), has been racking up awards all over the continent including The Mexico International Film Festival, Boston Latino International Film Festival, Orlando Hispanic Film Festival and the Beloit International Film Festival.

Students learned that making a movie isn't about waiting for the perfect camera or using the biggest sound stage.  The filmmakers told them it was about getting out and actually trying to make a movie. "Too many people talk about making a movie," said Comrie.  "You just have to do it. Do it today!"

The inspiring talk was well received by the students in the audience.
