Education
Curry College's undergraduate Education program prepares students to work with children and their families in schools and other education settings. Courses and field experiences help students to understand and respond to children's physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and cultural developmental needs while also allowing them to appreciate the complexity of educational organizations in which children grow and learn.
Curry students may choose an Early Childhood, Elementary, or Special Education Licensure major, or the Child, Youth, and Community Education major. Students interested in pursuing a teaching license must complete the Integrated Liberal Studies major in addition to their licensure major.
The undergraduate Education faculty consists of faculty who are experienced in each of the majors, and who are passionate about their field of expertise. A coordinator represents each of the above majors, and will direct and counsel students throughout their college career. In addition, a Field Placement Coordinator will assist students in finding appropriate and comfortable settings for each of their field experiences.
The Coordinators for each of the undergraduate Education majors is as follows:
Licensure Majors (Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education) - Eileen Wynne Ball
Child, Youth, and Community Education - Dotty Alexander
Health
Curry College's Health program is designed for those students who wish to prepare as health educators in community, government, health care, or fitness areas. The major can also prepare students for application for graduate programs and this program is anticipated to meet the coursework criteria for eligibility to become a Certified Health Education Specialist.
The Coordinator for the Health major is Bea Guilmette.
