The Department of Fine and Applied Arts offers four minors. Students may elect a minor to complement their major in another area and to explore a new skill or to advance their techniques in an area that is already important to them.
The Dance minor helps to build a sense a self-awareness and control. The training involved in dance as a discipline helps students succeed in a wide variety of majors.
The Graphic Design minor introduces the basics of design and teaches design-specific software currently used in the graphic design profession. Students majoring in Applied Technology and Communication find the Graphic Design minor particularly useful because it gives an added perspective to their major.
The Music minor offers an added perspective and skill set to any major. Students in the Radio Broadcasting concentration can especially benefit, as can students in the various levels of Education. Psychology majors can combine this interest with a music minor to prepare for further study in the field of music therapy.
The Studio Arts minor allows students to move through the basic techniques of visual art practice to more advanced skills in the upper level courses. Students in the Studio Arts minor combine an interest in psychology for careers in art therapy and related fields. Education majors at all levels find studio arts practice a valuable addition to their skills.
