Majors

English

The Department of English is a vibrant program that offers students a wide range of opportunities to become proficient in all areas of the English language arts.

The Writing Program includes concentrations in Creative Writing, Journalism, and Professional Writing.  Students are offered several mediums for publishing their work in the Curry Arts Journal, and in The Currier Times newspaper.  As well, the Blue Hills Writing Institute brings professional writers together with students in an environment conducive to the creative process.  Students in the Institute are given the benefit of having their writing evaluated by published authors.

English majors and minors are offered avenues to study literature through several concentrations: Traditional Literature, American Studies, Women in Literature, and Multi-cultural Literature.  Small class sizes give students the chance to work closely with their professors to hone the writing and editing skills that are essential to their success in the professional milieu.
