First Year Student Writing Competition a Success
This past spring, the Humanities department hosted our very successful “First Year Student Writing Competition” which saw a turnout of over 40 students, faculty, staff, and parents to watch 10 students read their essays.
Members of the English Department and Writing concentrations attended and assisted Professor Dottie Fleming in giving out the prizes.
Several parents from out of state came to hear their daughters/sons read their essays and one parent offered donatations to help expand the prize pool. The department would like to thank Paula Cabral for her outstanding help in coordinating the session and organizing the luncheon.
