Students Learn from Global Leaders
Management Department Hosts Academy of International Business – Northeast Regional Annual Conference

Curry College students were privileged to tap into the knowledge base of global leaders at the Academy of International Business – Northeast Region’s Annual Conference, “Using Organizational Knowledge for World Business Development and International Good” held in October 2006 at the Milton campus. The conference was hosted by the Department of Management and the MBA Program.
Keynote speakers included Paul Stephenson, Business Development Manager – Continental Europe for Halliburton Company in Kiev, Ukraine and Sharon A. Mertz, Research Director, Customer Relationship Management for Gartner Dataquest Research. Mr. Stephenson spoke on the economic and political environment in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States with a particular emphasis on the oil and gas industry. Ms. Mertz spoke on global trends in software.
The conference also included two panels and two student paper presentations.
“Teaching International Business: Emergent Trends and Methods” featured panelists Gary A. Knight, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Director of Multinational Business Program, College of Business, Florida State University; John Riesenberger, Shaw Science Partners and former VP, Pharmacia and Upjohn; and Nader Asgary, Ph.D., Associate Provost for International Relations and Director of The Cronin International Center at Bentley College.
“Offshoring, Outsourcing and Insourcing: New Economic Realities” featured Panelists Narendra Bhandari, Professor of Management, Pace University; Susan Coley, Business Development Executive, Global Delivery Direct, IBM America; and Usha Dasari, Director-Global Marketing and eLearning Systems, SGT Inc.
“An Assessment of the Relationship Between Global Integration and Human Development,” was presented by Nick Anzalone, Scott Blanchard, Justin French, Catie Schadlick and James Wellock from Saint Anselm College.
“Emotional Intelligence and Cognitive Ability: A Within and Across Country Comparison of Business Students’ Self Perception,” was presented by Andrew Viera, Ashley Thompson, Iwona Wilk, and Sarah Sheehan from Quinnipiac University.
Conference organizers included Gail Arch, Director of the Curry College MBA Program; Curry College Professors Ernest Silver, Michael Bennett, Anthony Fabrizio and John DiCicco; and Massood Samii, President AIB-NE, from Southern New Hampshire University.
