Student Environmental Researchers in Demand
Organizations and agencies concerned with environmental resources throughout eastern Massachusetts have discovered the value of Curry’s Environmental science majors as researchers.
Working at sites such as the Blue Hills, Neponset River and World’s End Reservations, and the Weymouth Naval Air Station, students have done foundational research for the restoration of a salt marsh, determined whether wetlands meet criteria for federal protection, looked at the effects of petrochemical pollution on clams, examined the effect of road salt and siltation on trout nests in brooks, and measured the presence of pollutants from a former military base at a superfund site.
