Curry Professors Present at Nursing Conference in Russia

Curry professors Dr. Susan LaRocco and Dr. Linda Caldwell had the opportunity to present at the biennial U.S.-Russian Nursing Conference in Russia in August of 2009.

Russian, Australian, South African and American nurses participated as conference speakers, poster presenters, discussion group leaders and facilitators of clinical and educational site visits.  Dr. LaRocco presented a poster on "Men in Nursing" while Dr. Caldwell presented a paper on "Quality and Safety Initiatives in Nursing Education".

Together, they led a discussion group about Curry's Accelerated Nursing Program (ACCEL), which is an entirely new concept to Russian nursing education. 

The conference also included a cruise where Russian nurses shared in the sightseeing, helping those from the U.S. and other countries see and experience the culture, people and the healthcare and educational systems of Russia.

Conference sessions, sightseeing, meals and other events for informal discussion provided multiple opportunities to network and develop relationships with Russian nursing colleagues.
