About the Department

The Politics and History major offers students a solid grounding in the disciplines of History and Political Science, with the goal of developing in each student an understanding of the past and providing him or her with the tools to shape the future.

Courses in History (including U.S., African American, European, Chinese, and Middle East), Political Science (including foreign relations, government, state and local politics, political philosophy, and political tactics), and Constitutional Law, can prepare students for their civic and professional lives in many ways. Graduates with a degree in Politics and History have gone into teaching, journalism, law, political campaigning, elected office, and government service. In addition to coursework, internships (through Career Services) provide real-world experience that can point you in the direction of exciting career opportunities. Contact any member of the Politics and History department for information.
