Criminal Justice
The Criminal Justice major provides the opportunity to systematically examine criminal justice systems and the administration of justice, examining the causes and patterns of crime and criminal behavior and the ways in which criminal justice institutions have responded in trying to solve these social problems. Criminal Justice courses emphasize practical problem solving and theoretical skills, useful to careers in criminal justice, legal studies, community and social service. Criminal Justice majors are encourages to develop and take field placement internships to get some real world experience during their course of study. Sociology
The Sociology major offers students an in-depth look at contemporary human society, its culture and social institutions. The course work in the major brings together the disciplines of anthropology, with its cross-cultural perspectives; sociology, with its emphasis on American institutions and social issues; and social work and social policy, with its focus on intervention and social problems. A selection of diversified courses linked together by a number of important themes is offered. Like their counterparts Sociology majors are encourages to develop and take field placement internships to get some real world experience to add to their classroom education.
