The first semester of college is an exciting time for you. With that excitement may also come uncertainty, new choices and decisions, and anxiety about new people, classes and environment. As you make the transition to Curry College, the First-Year Seminar Course is a great way to help you learn about yourself and develop strategies that will ensure success throughout your college career.
First-Year Seminar is a 2-credit course designed to assist you with your transition to the college experience. Throughout the course, you are introduced to methods and resources to promote success in college, and opportunities to discover how you learn, relate, and make choices. Topics in the course focus on academic development, value and belief systems, campus life, relationships, wellness, and the purpose and value of higher education. Each section of the course is team taught by a member of the faculty or a professional staff member and an upper-class student instructor.
Sections of this course are offered in both the fall and spring semesters and are open to all first year students as well as transfer students who have earned fewer than 15 credits at their previous institution.
Questions about the course can be directed to Dr. Carrie Cokely , Director of First-Year Seminar.
