Important information
In order for you to be eligible to receive Financial Aid at Curry College, you must be a degree seeking (matriculated) student. Please see your Continuing Education advisor for matriculation status.
You must, to ensure your aid eligibility is determined prior to registration, apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA at least two weeks before starting classes. You may complete the FAFSA either on-line or on paper. In order to sign your FAFSA on-line, you will need your federal PIN number. Please go to www.pin.ed.govwebsite if you do not already have your PIN. If you have forgotten or misplaced your PIN, please visit the PIN website.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) generally takes between four to six weeks for the federal government to process if you complete a paper copy and just two weeks if you complete the FAFSA on-line. Once the government has processed the submitted FAFSA, you will be sent a Student Aid Report (SAR), which must reflect correct information. If the SAR has any errors, the student must send it back to the government with corrections.
You must complete and submit an Enrollment Verification form, which indicates the number of credits that you plan to take each semester. This form is available online, from your advisor or at the Student Financial Services Office. If you are a nursing student, your advisor must sign this form.
Approximately 30% of financial aid applicants are selected for verification. If you are selected for verification by the federal government, you will be required to submit tax information (signed 1040 and W2) and complete a Household Verification Worksheet. Additional information may also be required.
Once the Student Financial Services Office has received all of the required paperwork, we will award need-based financial aid to eligible students and send a letter to the student’s home address detailing the award. Generally we do this within two weeks of receiving all required paperwork.
Eligibility for need based financial aid will depend on the information from the FAFSA and enrollment status. You must be enrolled at least halftime (6 credits per semester) to be eligible for a Federal Subsidized or Unsubsidized Stafford loan. There is no minimum credit requirement for Federal Pell Grants.
Student Loan funds will not be credited to your account until you have registered for at least six credits. This may cause you to have a balance due on your account before you register for a second class. (If a student pre-paid tuition, the Student Financial Services Office will be able to refund any credit balances to the student.) If you have any questions about your Student Account, please call 617-333-2354. If you would like to make a payment, please call 617-333-2973.
If you are receiving a student loan for the first time at Curry, you will be required to complete loan entrance counseling. You may complete this on-line at www.mapping-your-future.org. If you would prefer the paper version, we would be happy to mail one to you. You will also need to sign a Master Promissory Note for your Stafford loan. Instructions for completing the MPN will be sent to you after your eligibility has been determined. You can complete your MPN online by visiting ASA Direct.
If at any time, you have questions regarding financial aid, please feel free to contact the Student Financial Services Office at 617-333-2354 or via email to Fin-aid@curry.edu.
