Matriculated (degree seeking) students enrolled in any of our three Graduate level programs are eligible to apply for financial aid. To apply for financial aid, go to the FAFSA website. Your financial aid application must be completed two weeks prior to the start of classes. If your financial aid application is not complete prior to the start of classes, course tuition is due when you register. When your financial aid is processed, you may be reimbursed. If you have questions on your matriculation status, please contact the Graduate Studies Office at (617) 333-2243.
Applying for Financial Aid
You can complete the FAFSA online. The Federal Processors take approximately two weeks to process your electronic FAFSA application. Please remember to include Curry’s Federal School Code of 002143 on the FAFSA. Before you begin your FAFSA application online, please make sure that you have your PIN number readily available. If you do not know your PIN or have misplaced it, you can visit the PIN website at www.pin.ed.gov to retrieve it. The PIN allows students to electronically sign their FAFSA by inputting the pin instead of requiring a printed and signed signature page to be submitted by mail.
Once the Federal Processors have completed processing your FAFSA, you will be sent a Student Aid Report (SAR), which should reflect correct information. If the SAR has any errors, you, the student, must correct the SAR and submit the corrections to the Federal Processors. Your SAR will also be sent electronically to Curry College. You should consider the amount of processing time required when you’re applying for financial aid.
In addition to the FAFSA, you must also complete an Enrollment Verification Form, which indicates the number of credits that you plan to take each semester of the year for which you are applying for financial aid. This form is available online, from your advisor or in the Student Financial Services Office. Your advisor must sign this form and you must submit it to the Student Financial Services Office.
Verification
Approximately 30% of all financial aid applicants are selected for a process called verification. If you are selected for verification by the federal government, you will be required to submit current tax information (signed 1040 form and all W2 forms), and a household verification worksheet.
Once the Student Financial Services Office has received all of the required paperwork, we will award need-based financial aid to eligible students and send a letter detailing the award. Generally we do this within two weeks of receiving all of the required paperwork.
Student Loans
You must be enrolled at least half-time (3 credits per semester) in order to receive Federal Stafford Loan funds. Graduate students receiving a student loan for the first time at Curry, will be required to complete loan entrance and exit counseling. You may complete your entrance counseling online at www.mappingyourfuture.org. If you would prefer to complete the entrance counseling on paper, we would be happy to mail one to you. You will be required to complete loan exit counseling after you graduate, withdraw or drop below half time status.
In addition to the entrance counseling requirement, you must also sign a Master Promissory Note for your Stafford Loan. You can complete your MPN online by visiting ASA Direct. If you would prefer to complete your MPN on paper, please let us know and we will mail one to you. If you borrowed a student loan during your undergraduate career and would prefer to continue borrowing from the same lender, please let us know.
If your enrollment plans change at any time, you must notify the Student Financial Services Office immediately as it may affect your financial aid. If at any time, you would like to speak with a financial aid counselor regarding financial aid, please feel free to contact the Student Financial Services Office at 617-333-2354 or via email: fin-aid@curry.edu.
