Q: What is the Grade Point Average that I need to transfer into Curry College?
A: A grade point average of 2.5 is preferred. No application will be considered with a grade point average below 2.0.
Q: What classes will transfer from other colleges?
A: Any class with a ‘C’ grade or better, provided the course is similar in content and depth to that offered within the Nursing major at Curry.
Q: What are the transfer nursing pre-requisites?
A: Successful completion of Anatomy and Physiology I and II, and a Chemistry course with Lab with grade of ‘C’ or better is required prior to enrolling in sophomore-level nursing program. In certain instances, students may be admitted to the program pending successful completion of these courses prior to September enrollment. If pre-requisite classes were failed and or/repeated at other institutions, the applicant will not be considered for admission to Curry College.
Q: Will any of my past clinical work transfer to Curry College?
A: No; all clinical work needs to be completed while attending Curry College.
Q: I failed out of my last nursing program, will that hurt my chances of entrance?
A: Students who have failed out of another nursing program will not be considered.
Q: English is not my first language; do I need to submit any exams?
A: Any foreign-born student or one whose first language is not English must submit a TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 (paper test), 213 (computer test) and 80 (internet test). There will be no exceptions to this policy even if applicants have successfully completed an ESL course.
Q: What is Curry College’s pass rate on the exam?
A: Most graduating classes achieve a 90-100% pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
Q: Where do nursing majors perform their clinical rotations?
A: Clinical rotations are completed at all major teaching hospitals in Boston and surrounding areas.
Q: How long will it take for me to finish this program?
A: Due to clinical rotations and nursing course sequences, the traditional nursing program will take a minimum of three years to complete regardless of previous credits.
Q: May I attend part-time?
A: No, the day program is full-time only.
Q: Can I start spring semester in January?
A: No, we only accept nursing majors in the fall.
Q: Can I start in another major and then transfer into the nursing major after I enroll at Curry?
A: No. Once enrolled at Curry College, a student may not transfer into the nursing program.
Q: I have an outstanding bill from my last college and they will not send out my transcript; may I give you a copy instead?
A: Curry College will not enroll a student without the official final transcript from other colleges attended.
Q: I already have a Bachelor’s Degree. Do I still need to stay a full-time student if accepted into the program?
A: Yes. All nursing students must be enrolled full-time status. You may want to explore our Accelerated Nursing Program through our Continuing Education Office designed for students who have completed a bachelor’s degree and wish to make a career change into nursing by earning a second bachelor’s degree.
