Much can be accomplished in ten years and 1995 Curry graduate David LaRovere is a perfect example. David has capped of 2005 with two major appointments that underscore a commitment to his alma mater, as a charter member of the Curry College National Alumni Council and the community at large as a Board Member of the Cambridge Health Alliance.
David’s rise in the community began immediately after graduation, which he accomplished in three years. After passing the state Insurance Broker’s License Exam David went to work as an agent at the family firm. By recognizing and capitalizing on the tremendous growth potential in their market David, along with two of his brothers, was able to buy his own agency. Currently serving as Treasurer and CFO of Messinger Insurance Inc. of Everett David is able to combine all the fields he enjoys into one job. David is responsible for underwriting, contracts, and overseeing other agents while directing the financial structure of two insurance agencies and ten property management entities. Accounting, marketing and financial analysis were all interests that developed during David’s studies at Curry College.
“I feel like my Curry experience has prepared me for the challenges I face today. I learned many things at Curry but the two most important were about people and about community. As a resident assistant and member of the basketball team I learned about leadership, organization and how to stay focused.”
A staunch member of his community, David gives back through organizations like the St. Clements Young Adults Leadership Group, Everett Kiwanis, and most recently as a member of the Joint Hospital Board and Finance Committee of the Cambridge Health Alliance, which represents three hospitals and provides care across the metro north region. Through his membership in the Curry College National Alumni Council David sets an example for alumni giving and involvement while maintaining a vast network of Curry friends.
“I have many fond memories of Curry and the people who inspired me. The most inspirational person in the classroom was my accounting Professor, Victoria Fatouras. As a business management major she instructed me to learn the fundamentals because in the real world you will be dealing with real companies, real people and real money. Her words come back to me often when I’m working with clients.”
Today Messinger Insurance Inc. provides expert business and personal insurance consulting to 17 different companies. There is no doubt that the next ten years will represent further growth for this entrepreneurial alumnus.
“I’m proud of the opportunities Curry has given me. I appreciate the Professors, coaches, staff and friends that have helped me grow into the person I am today. I want to see this continue with today’s students and future graduates. The only way for this to happen is by getting involved, both financially and actively. I’m proud to be the newest member of the National Alumni Council and look forward to watching the school continue to grow and flourish. Curry taught me the importance of education and now I’m considering an MBA or law school. I was very excited to hear about Curry’s MBA program and I’m looking into it now. I never want to stop learning.”
