
Neil Sherring has a very strong and close connection to Curry College - his father, Albert Sherring is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Curry. Professor Sherring has been teaching at Curry for over 30 years. Neil Sherring graduated from Curry in 1985 and has followed in his father's dedication to the college by serving as a member of the National Alumni Council.
After graduating from Curry, Neil attended Suffolk University Law School with aspirations of becoming a trial lawyer. He found the broad range liberal arts curriculum at Curry prepared him for the multifaceted field of law and litigation. After graduating from Suffolk Law School in 1993, Neil was selected from over 500 applicants to serve as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court. After his 1 year Judicial Clerkship, in 1994, Neil was appointed as an Assistant District Attorney for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Two years later, in 1996, he was selected to be an Assistant Attorney General for Massachusetts serving under Attorney Generals Thomas Reilly and Scott Harshbarger. In 1999, Neil entered private practice as a litigation associate and trial attorney for the well known Boston based law firm of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. Neil had always wanted to start his own law firm with his childhood friend and neighbor so in 2001, Neil formed the firm of Dakoyannis, Curtin & Sherring, LLC. Dakoyannis, Curtin & Sherring, LLC is a full service law firm with concentrations in commercial and residential real estate conveyances, landlord and tenant matters, business and corporate law, estate planning, and business and civil litigation.
Neil Sherring is a trial lawyer with extensive experience in both state and federal courts. He is the managing partner of the firm of Dakoyannis, Curtin & Sherring, LLC. His practice is concentrated in the areas of civil and business litigation. He also represents multinational clients relative to international business and financial disputes in a broad range of jurisdictions including Zurich, Bombay and the Cayman Islands. Mr. Sherring has briefed and presented oral arguments in cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Court of Appeals. He has litigated cases that have been published including Judge v. City of Lowell, et al., United States Court of Appeals, For the First Circuit (98-1248, November 18, 1998) and Tuper v. North Adams Ambulance Services, Inc., 428 Mass. 132 (1998).
In addition to his work with Curry College, Neil Sherring has also served as a member of the Hate Crimes Task Force for the Attorney General of Massachusetts and was Co-Founder of the South Asian Domestic Violence Task Force. Mr. Sherring is a lecturer and instructor for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE).
