Susan Grieco Richardson graduated from Curry College in 1976 and became a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines.  By the end of her 13-year career, Susan served as Senior Flight Attendant and Instructor of Inflight Training.  After a stint staying home to raise her family and doing volunteer work in the community, Susan reentered the job market full time working for the Brooks School in North Andover in Alumni Relations and Development where she worked for 4 ½ years.  Susan is presently in her 6th year as the Director of Constituent Relations at the Fenn School in Concord, MA.

Susan credits her experience at Curry College with preparing her for her personal and professional relationships throughout her life.

“Curry is a school with a great sense of community,” says Susan. “It has always been about the people.  My relationships at Curry helped me to realize that no matter what you do it is always about the community and people.”

Susan majored in Elementary Education and Learning Disabilities and the skills she learned helped her to deal with the public throughout her career path.  “I learned that there’s always another away.  There’s never only one way to realize your goal; you have to be creative and that ties directly with my educational experience.”

Susan takes a lot of pride in her alma mater.  During her time at Curry, she saw people who made it a better place than it had been before.

“You don’t just leave and leave it up to the next people.  I work with a lot of parents and have heard parents of Curry students on several occasions describe their children’s experience as transformational.”

Some of her friends now have their own children attending Curry College and that’s the ultimate testament of support.  Susan gives of herself to support the Curry community as a member of the National Alumni Council, a group of 14 dedicated alumni who have committed themselves to improving the Curry experience.  As Silver Circle donor members, the National Alumni Council serve as role models for the alumni population at large.  Their most important contribution, however, is their time and effort which is representative of their ongoing personal commitment to the school.

Susan feels she was very fortunate to have great relationships with her professors and Curry College staff members alike.

“It was a family.  Gertrude Webb was one person in particular who I admired and respected.  The Deans were tremendously involved and engaged with the student body and it’s hard to single any one person out.”

Susan still maintains several friendships and keeps in touch with Pamela Case Fiore and Ann Young Ullmann.  The three are currently working to make their 30th reunion this fall an event to remember.  Using the theme ‘Come Back and Give Back,’ they are inviting alumni from graduating classes before and after their own to celebrate with them.  This is just another example of the tremendous sense of community that Curry College alumni enjoy.

“Where Curry has been throughout its history is impressive, but I’m even more impressed with where it’s going.  Curry is on the rise in a big way and it’s something we should all take a lot of pride in.”

Susan lives in Andover with her husband of twenty years and two children.
