MILTON, Mass. - Curry College softball player Alysia DiMuzio has earned honors from three additional organizations for her athletic and academic achievements during the 2008 season. Earlier this spring, she was a First Team All-Conference selection in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
More recently, the junior was named as a Division III Second Team All-Star by the New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association (NEISCA). She also earned Louisville Slugger Division III Second Team All-New England honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). DiMuzio rounded out her accolades by being named to the ESPN The Magazine College Division District 1 Academic All-America Third Team.
As the Colonels' designated player or first baseman, DiMuzio started in 40 games and compiled a .371 batting average (46-for-124). She led her team in numerous statistical categories, including home runs (11), runs batted in (48), total bases (85) and slugging percentage (.685). The high point of her season came on April 11 against Gordon College when she established school records for home runs (3) and RBI (11) in a game, and was subsequently named as TCCC Player of the Week on April 14.
The Quincy, Massachusetts native is an Education major who has earned Dean's List honors in all six semesters and currently maintains a 3.45 grade-point average.
Curry finished the 2008 campaign with a 24-17 record overall and a 16-8 mark in TCCC games.
