David Dingledy received his Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary English degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1970 and his master’s degree in Educational Administration from UMass Boston in 1993. He spent 33 years as a high school English Language Arts instructor in the Boston Public Schools with periods of service at Boston Technical (now the O’Bryant School of Math and Science), Dorchester, and Madison Park Technical-Vocational High Schools. During these years he has received a number of small grants to upgrade and enrich his classroom programs, including a summer course that enabled high school students to produce original fairy tale dramas for neighborhood children’s groups. He was active as a representative for the Boston Teachers Union and as executive secretary for the Massachusetts Council of Teachers of English. He was also an adjunct English instructor at Curry College from 1987 to 1992. He retired from the Boston Public Schools in 2003 and accepted an invitation to return to Curry to teach in the English writing program in spring 2005.
