Activities and Events

There’s always something happening at Curry!  Everywhere you look on campus you’ll find countless sources of entertainment and action. You can unwind at the Game Room over a game of pool, meet friends at an ARC party, or take a turn behind the mic at a Coffeehouse.

Life as a Curry student extends beyond the campus, too. You can hike or ski in the nearby Blue Hills Reservation, Curry Up And Go on one of our Saturday destination bus trips, or participate in one of our various community service projects; all just seven miles away from downtown Boston.

New Student Orientation:

The Student Activities Office works closely with Academic Advising to plan a comprehensive new student orientation program. New students are invited to campus for an overnight experience that includes important information sessions, selecting a course schedule, and fun late-night events.

In the fall, new students move in to their residence halls early in order to get acclimated to campus and start building Curry pride and community. In addition to meeting new people and participating in fun activities, you will have the chance to learn about Curry and opportunities to make your college experience the best it can possibly be. For more information about our Orientation programs, email FYE@curry.edu

Community Service & Leadership:

Getting involved in the Curry community goes beyond having an active campus life.  Students are encouraged to participate in some of the many community service and leadership programs that are offered both on campus and in the surrounding community.

Community service is a great way for students to learn and grow by actively participating in organized service experiences that successfully meet the needs of the greater community.  Participating in community service provides students with opportunities through which they can reach out to the surrounding area and work to fight for social causes.  Past service opportunities have included helping out at the Ronald McDonald House’s Polar Express event, throwing a Halloween Party for the children of the Mildred Avenue Community Center, and spending time with senior citizens at Fuller Village assisted living center.

Alternative Spring Break

In addition to spending time working on service projects in the Boston area, students have the chance to spend their Spring Break volunteering to help those in need.  Past trips have included Habitat for Humanity building projects in Connecticut, New Orleans, and Delaware.

E.L.I.T.E.

The E.L.I.T.E (Emerging Leaders Inspired To Excellence) Leadership Program is geared toward first year and sophomore students. The program provides resources for students to identify their personal leadership style and teach them how to adapt and use it to be effective in their current and future leadership roles.

The goal of the E.L.I.T.E program is to allow students to make the most of their co-curricular involvement and introduce them to the skills they need to be successful leaders. Topics discussed include leadership versus management, values and ethics, time management, and communication and conflict management.
