Curry Newspaper

The Currier Times is Curry College’s own student run, bi-weekly newspaper, produced with assistance by faculty advisor Jim Matte.

The 8-16 page newspaper is published 12 issues a year and currently covers campus news, editorial, global and political affairs, features, arts and entertainment, and sports.

The Currier Times offers multiple positions including:

Editor-in-Chief
Assistant Editor
Section Editor
Page Designer
Photographer
Advertising Manager
News reporter
Opinion and Editorial writer
Cartoonist
Global and Political reporter
Feature reporter
A&E reporter
Sports reporter

Students can also receive academic credit for contributing to The Currier Times, but don’t necessarily have to take it as a class. Students who are concentrating in journalism should join the staff as it brings valuable real-world experience in learning how to operate and manage a newspaper.

Former students who have served on The Currier Times staff have landed jobs at The Patriot Ledger and interned at The Boston Globe and FOX 25 TV.

Assignment meetings are conducted on Monday when stories are planned for the week and the following week. Students conduct layout on Tuesday and Wednesday nights and the paper goes out to print and is delivered on Friday.

The Currier Times uses Adobe InDesign for page layout and recently purchased various Adobe programs which include:

Photoshop
Acrobat Professional
Acrobat Distiller
Illustrator
LiveCycle Designer
Stock Photos
ExtendScript Toolkit
Bridge
Device Central

The office is currently located on 65 Atherton Street in the Student Activities Building in room A02.
