Stacy Osorio - Information Technology
"When I was looking for colleges I wanted to be near or in Boston because that is where I saw plenty of opportunities within the IT field."
During her college search Osorio had her mind set on a small campus, which several Boston-area schools offer. But she found it hard to find a school with an IT major and web development concentration where she would get the one-on-one attention she desired, until she came to Curry.
"I came on an Open House date and fell in love with the campus. Meeting and speaking with the professors in the IT department was great, they had me hooked from the start."
Full of ambition and drive, Osorio has also gained plenty of experience through her jobs on campus, almost too many of which to keep track.
As a freshman she was already working for the Curry College Technology Center, providing help desk support to students and faculty.
By her sophomore year, along with her Tech Center position, she was working as a peer tutor and also interning with the webmaster of the Curry College marketing website, www.curry.edu. There, she gained experience building web pages and forms, writing and editing content for the website and even sitting in on formal meetings with the Curry marketing team.
As a junior, she hasn't let up one bit, serving as a teaching assistant for Professor Deanna Gordon's Web Design class.
"I like to keep myself busy...working in a variety of jobs here on campus has really helped me grow as a person and has also prepared me professionally."
"I love being able to share my experience with students and help them in their transition between high school and college."
In the spring of 2013, Osorio plans on studying abroad through Curry at Queen Mary University of London. There she will be taking classes to fulfill her major and minor electives.
"I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I am really looking forward to experiencing the culture of London because it is such a great global melting pot."
After graduating from Curry, Stacy plans to find a job in web development in nearby Boston.
