You can declare a minor in dance to complement a major in any other area of study. The combination of a dance minor with a major in community health and wellness, psychology, visual arts, or business management, for example, may lead to graduate study and/or careers in such fields as dance/health education, expressive therapies, or arts administration. A minor in dance may also enhance the preparation and competitiveness of students enrolled in the educator licensure majors.
In October 2014, the Curry College Dance Program welcomed members of the Triveni Dance Ensemble to perform for students, faculty and staff in the Alumni Recreation Center (ARC). The performance included Hindu myths, complex rhythms, intricate footwork and a demonstration of Bharat Natyam & Kuchipudi styles.
Happening every Spring semester, The Curry Dance Showcase is a fully produced dance concert open to all students. Students who wish to perform, or dance in the work of invited guest artists, enroll in Dance Performance in the Spring semester. Students who wish to choreograph enroll in Introduction to Choreography in the Fall, and Dance Performance in the Spring.
Don't just take our word for it. Read about the Dance program from the students themselves. It doesn't matter what your major is, minoring in Dance will enhance your life both here at Curry and in your career after graduation.
