Laura Carsten received her doctorate in Social Sciences (specifically: political science/international political economy) from the Ruhr-Universität Bochum in 2011. Her dissertation examined the domestic conditions under which Emerging Power states Brazil and India chose to use, substitute or attempt to reform the World Trade Organization since the start of the Doha Round of trade negotiations. The revised dissertation has been accepted for publication by Palgrave Macmillan and will soon appear in Palgrave's IPE series. Research interests include emerging powers, trade policy, global governance and institutions, foreign policy decision-making, and IPE.
Laura has been a member of the Dept. of Politics and History at Curry since Fall 2012. Her teaching interests and experience are diverse, ranging from international political economy to US foreign policy to regional cooperation to democracy in international relations.
