Dian J. Gifford

Prior to joining Curry College as Grants Coordinator, Dr. Gifford was most recently a Marine Research Scientist and Professor in Residence at the Graduate School of Oceanography, University of Rhode Island, where she holds an Emerita appointment and continues to do part-time research on the ecology of pelagic ecosystems leading to fisheries.

Dr. Gifford holds a baccalaureate degree in Biology from the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Science degree in Biology and a doctorate in Oceanography from Dalhousie University in Canada. She has authored numerous scholarly papers, presented her research at national and international conferences, and is a member of several academic and professional societies. In addition to ocean science, she pursues interests in visual arts, climate change, conservation and sustainability.
