Dr. Lisa Ijiri serves as the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. In that role she provides leadership in multiple strategic academic initiatives to support academic quality. She has been actively involved in system-wide processes to support student success across the institution and the development of structures to increase student engagement and achievement. Areas of focus include integrative learning, general education, first year, educational technology, and academic services.
She has presented widely at national conferences and as an invited keynote speaker on diverse topics in higher education and learning disabilities including integrative learning, college transition planning and program development, learning disability documentation, second language learning and learning disabilities, and many other topics.
From 1993-2007, Dr. Ijiri served as the Director of Curry's internationally renowned Program for Advancement of Learning, PAL. Her wide ranging experience in learning disabilities includes teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level, mentoring students of all ages, and leading diagnostic evaluation teams.
As a Fulbright scholar, Dr. Ijiri served as a visiting researcher at the University of Tokyo. Her research interests have included the role of phonological awareness in learning to read in non-alphabetic writing systems and influences of linguistic variation on the learning process.
Currently, Dr. Ijiri serves as a member of the Massachusetts American Council of Education (ACE) Executive Board and is professionally active in the American Association of Colleges and Universities, (AAC&U).
