Cathleen C. Santos
Dr. Santos is an associate professor and course coordinator in Community Health Nursing. She holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Nursing Education from Regis College, an MSN in Community Health Nursing from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth and a BSN from Husson College/Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine.
In addition to her faculty role at Curry, she is the faculty advisor for the Curry College Student Nurse Association and the current chair of the college wide Undergraduate Academic Policy Committee. Dr. Santos is a member of the Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses, Health policy committee and a current member of the Massachusetts Public Health Nurses Association. In addition, she is a member in good standing of the Sigma Theta Tau, Theta Chapter, International Honor Society of Nursing . Before becoming a professor at Curry, she held a variety of nursing administration positions in Massachusetts in acute care and home health care.
She serves as a Project team member, of the Quality and Safety in Nursing Education (QSEN) Collaborative at Curry College and serves on the Advisory and Editorial board for Pepid Medical Information Resources.
Dr. Santos is a Health Information Technology Scholars program (HITS) Faculty Scholar for 2009 and was inducted into Husson University Alumni Hall of Fame, 2010. She is a 2010 recipient of the Foundation of National Student Nurses Association, Promise of Nursing Regional Faculty Fellowship,
Dr. Santos was invited to participate in expert panel at the Emerging Technologies in Nursing Education Conference, Boston, MA in 2010 and presented her research titled; Preparing for the Electronic Health Record: Impact on Practice and Nurse Education.
Dr. Santos has extensive background in Quality & Safety in Nursing practice as evidenced by her participation in the QSEN National Forums and her recent national presentations on Student Nurses Perceptions of Patient Safety.
Dr. Santos has mentored both Master's students and doctoral candidates over the last several years. Her current interests include the development of a Health policy course at Curry and implementation of Inter-professional Education.
