Music
Do you love to make music? Want to advance your current skills, or learn how to play an instrument? Ever dreamed of singing on stage? Then you may want to consider a minor in music.
You can declare a minor in music to complement a major in any other area of study. The combination of a music minor with various majors may lead to graduate study and/or careers in such fields as the expressive therapies, arts administration, radio, television and theatre.
Students who decide to declare the music minor must do so through a member of the music faculty, the coordinator of Dance and Music, or the chairperson of Fine and Applied Arts.
In addition to the requirements listed below, the faculty encourages music minors to elect an inter-area field experience that applies knowledge of music in a field placement appropriate to the student's major. Many students have found this pleasurable and beneficial for further career opportunities.

Chorale
The Chorale is the primary vocal music performance organization on campus. This mixed voice ensemble rehearses once a week and constitutes a 2 credit music course, open to all students who demonstrate the requisite singing skills. The Chorale presents two concerts a year, one at the end of each semester. The Fall concert has a seasonal theme, incorporating music from Christmas and Hanukkah holidays, as well as a variety of pieces from secular repertoire. The Spring concert is usually a rollicking potpourri of styles and genres, with students from Private Music Instruction and Improvisation Ensemble often performing in addition to the Chorale.
