The 2002-2003 women's basketball program improved upon last year's 17-9 campaign by posting a stellar 22-4 record - the most wins in the 24 year history of the program Curry's .846 winning percentage was 23rd-best among all Division III schools in the nation.

The 2002-2003 Colonels began re-writing the record book early by winning their first 12 games, not only the best-ever start of a season, but also the longest winning streak in school history. Offensively, the team went on to establish new marks for total points scored (1,733) and highest scoring average (66.7 ppg) in a season - but Curry was even better on defense. The Colonels ranked 9th in the nation for scoring defense, allowing an average of just 51.9 points per game.

The Curry roster had 11 underclassmen and only three juniors - including Northern Essex Community College transfer Crystal Clegg (Hudson, NH). Clegg - who missed the season's first four games due to illness - provided the squad with its most reliable outside shooting threat. She led the team in three-point shooting while contributing 10.8 points per game.

The Colonels' frontcourt featured the one-two punch of sophomore captain Brandy Howard (Weymouth, MA) and freshman Julie Medonis (Wethersfield, CT). Howard - the team's Most Valuable Player - set a school record for highest field-goal percentage in a season, shooting 56.2% (136-242) from the floor. She also paced the squad in rebounding, pulling down an average of 9.5 boards per contest. Medonis - the team's Rookie of the Year - not only led the Colonels in scoring with 18.0 points per game, she established a Curry mark for steals in a season with 99.

First-year point guards Erin Allen (Litchfield, NH) and Jianine Esposito (Bridgeport, CT) were equally as impressive as their classmate Medonis - combining for

184 assists while committing just 146 turnovers. Yet another rookie - forward Gennifer Bradshaw (Hudson, NH) - contributed 6.1 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game while leading the team in free-throw percentage (67%).

After posting a 15-3 record in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) games, and finishing second in the CCC South Division, Curry fell in the Tournament quarterfinals to Gordon. Beyond the great season Jalie Medonis earned honors as CCC "Rookie of the Year". It marked the second year in a row that a Curry player walked off with honors as the conference's top newcomer. Jackie Harris - now playing for Division I Quinnipiac University - was selected as CCC "Rookie of the Year" for the 2001-2002 season.
