Coach Roberts’ Women’s Lacrosse Team orchestrated an equally remarkable season, kicked off in West Palm Beach with a dominating 16-7 win against Alfred University. The Colonels won eight of their first nine contests, but were faced with adversity after a 10-7 upset at the hands of Salve Regina when eventual Conference Player of the Year Courtney Roche was lost for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. In a show of fortitude, Curry won its final two regular-season contests, then exacted a measure of revenge against the Seahawks with an inspired 11-10 overtime win in the CCC Quarterfinals. After a hard-fought 7-6 loss to eventual champions New England College in the conference semi-finals, Women’s Lacrosse became the third Curry squad to participate in an ECAC Division III New England Tournament. With an emotional 15-14 overtime victory at UMass Dartmouth in the ECAC Quarterfinals, Coach Roberts and her student-athletes had collected their first-ever CCC Tournament win and first-ever ECAC Tournament win in just their fourth year of varsity competition.

By year’s end, several individuals were duly recognized for their outstanding achievements on behalf of their teams and their school. Curry laid claim to five “Coaches of the Year” - Steve Nelson (Football), Danielle Ferrara Toomey (Women’s Soccer), Rob Davies (Hockey), Malcolm Wynn (Men’s Basketball), and Bruce Weckworth (Softball). The Colonels also boasted four conference “Players of the Year” - Raphael Zammit (Football/Offense), Brian Robitaille (Football/Defense), Mike O’Sullivan (Hockey) and Courtney Roche (Women’s Lacrosse), a conference “Pitcher of the Year” - Kim Sturgis, and three conference “Rookies of the Year” - Kevin Holleran (Football/Offense), Bret Adams (Hockey) and Emily Knight (Women’s Lacrosse).

Needless to say, with the unwavering support of the entire College community, Colonels’ Athletics rose to a new level of competitiveness and success during 2003-2004, and gave renewed meaning to the term “Curry Pride.”
